Dalton Monteiro - Debate and Speech

Dalton was born and brought up in Mumbai, India, and moved to Houston when he was 11.
He graduated from Elsik High School where he participated on the TFA, NFL and UIL circuit for 4 years. He graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in mechanical engineering. He currently serves as a senior manufacturing engineer at Acumed.
‘Speech and debate’ was a way to overcome his public speaking fears while developing a deeper understanding of philosophy that shapes our government and current events that plague the news. His accomplishments in speech and debate include 2 times TFA state qualifier in foreign extemporaneous speaking, competed at the regional level at UIL in current events and informative speaking, double nationals qualifier for space city in public forum and student congress. He was active on the TFA circuit as a judge during his college years and just completed his ninth (9) year as a public speaking/creative writing teacher at VVM.
Dalton strongly believes that an early exposure to speech and debate is important because it helps build individuality in thoughts and opinions paving a way to success in all aspects of life. It also removes stage fright and fear of public speaking.
Dalton likes to take his VVM students at a minimum of two (2) tournaments at a middle school level (pending students schedule) per school year, and encourages all students to participate no matter the age or the experience level.
