Rajani Shah - Adult Religion

Rajani Shah.jpg

Rajanibhai was born in 1948 in India and was raised in a very religious family. He lived in a joint family with grandparents and an uncle. He lived in the living quarters of one of the prestigious temples of Laxmi Narayan where his grandfather was the chief accountant. He distinctly remembers that every morning his mother did her puja; and his dad and uncle performed their puja (worship) rituals as well. He vividly remembers sitting with his dad and uncle reciting the Bhagawad Gita shlokas.  During his youth, he used to attend several kathas (Satsang and discourses) on Ramayana (History of Lord Rama) and Shreemad Bhagawata (Historical account and divine, playful Leelas of Lord Krishna).

He earned his engineering degree in India in 1970, moved to the US for further education, and then started his professional career.

In 1990, Rajanibhai met a sage from the Himalayas, Swami Rama, who lovingly took him under his wing and has guided him ever since. Swami Rama founded the Himalayan Institute of Yoga and Science. Rajanibhai regards the institute's current director, Panditji Rajamani, as his spiritual elder brother who continues to help him in his spiritual journey. Rajanibhai has been fortunate to have met a few other saints and sages who have also provided spiritual guidance to him. He is a close acquaintance of Shri Prithvi Raj Goswamiji of Houston. He has studied Vedic scriptures under the able guidance of Aacharya Shri Gaurangbhai Nanavati of Chinmaya Mission, Houston.

Rajanibhai has been associated with VPSS since its inception (in Daahiba's garage), and has remained actively involved till today. He has been serving on the Board of Trustees for the VPSS. He has also been involved with VVM for many years. He has been serving as the Chairperson of the VVM Board of Directors for the last five years. He has been associated with various VVM activities, and besides administrative duties, he enjoys teaching the Adult Religion class at VVM.
